Matsyasana or 'The Fish pose', is an advanced asana that is believed to destroy all disease. It stretches muscles of the abdomen and the intercostals between the ribs, intestines and the abdominal organs, thereby relieving abdominal ailments, constipation, fatigue and backache. It also helps in improving bronchitis and asthma as it works on the respiratory system. As it stretches the front of the neck and stimulates the muscles of the throat, it is therapeutic for the thyroid gland function.
